Jencks is recognised for contribution to good design in 2005

A CABE Festive Five Award has been awarded to landscaoe architect Charles Jencks.

Landscape architect Charles Jencks has received a CABE Festive Five Award in recognition of his contribution to championing good design in 2005. The annual awards are given to five public sector organisations, five private companies and five individuals for their forward thinking and motivation leading to better buildings and public space. Jencks won the award for the work he has done in developing Maggie’s Centres, which are built adjacent to hospitals and offer therapeutic and green healing environments for cancer patients. CABE chief executive Richard Simmons explained: “The people we have selected are the individuals and organisations that are making positive changes and are achieving results. “The Maggie’s Centres are definitely special buildings. We want to congratulate Jencks for the landscape design.”
