The importer took five golds and three silvers at the National Plant Show, with a best in the shrubs and climbers category for Hydrangea macrophylla 'Rendez-Vous' French Cancan. This followed Viburnum 'Kilimanjaro Sunrise' winning best plant at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May - its third title in a row. The viburnum is available in big numbers, with 4,000 in 2015, 20,000 in 2016 and 50,000 in 2017.
Javado partner Chris Campbell said the company is keeping the hydrangea as an exclusive for a third year after deciding not to release it because sales were too good.
"We grow batch after batch through the season - big advantage for the customers. As soon as one batch finished another grower will have the right batch at the right stage. We like to fill the gaps."
