Irish seminar set to focus on classic influences in design

Classic influences in contemporary design is the theme of next month's Garden & Landscape Designers' Association (GLDA) seminar.

Designers from around the world will explore the topic at the event, held at University College Dublin on 9 February.

Award-winning Luciano Giubbilei will kick off the event with a talk entitled "Designing Atmospheres".

Landscape architect and planner Gerhard Hauber is set to follow with a presentation focusing on water in urban landscapes.

Garden designer William Martin will explore the topic of creative imagination in his presentation, "Magic, Murder and the Weather". He will discuss his understanding of the disciplines of design.

Netherlands-based Luc Engelhard will talk on working and searching for balance, as well as tips for better gardening and landscape architecture. A discussion forum will end the seminar.

Prices are EUR140 (£104) for GLDA members, EUR155 (£115) for non-members and EUR90 (£67) for student members.
