The site is located between the Chinese coastal cities of Huludao and Xingcheng on the Bohai Sea, 400km away from Beijing. It starts from Xingcheng Bathing Beach from the south and ends at Longwan Plaza to the north. Almost 3,000 trees have been newly planted across a 50,000m2 area. The two bathing beaches of the two cities have been connected through the coastal trail, while different types of bridges and staircases link the landscape resources. It expands tourism types and extends visiting times in the coastal area, raising citizens’ living standards and happiness and creating a liveable human settlement.

Judges’ comments

"The level of design and construction expertise is clearly evident throughout this submission. A complex technical scheme presenting significant topographical challenges designed with great respect for the fragile natural costal habitat.

"It maximises the existing landscape character of the Black Pine forest edge, steep gullies, natural rock formations and costal views for the enjoyment of visitors."
