HTA prepares to launch a dedicated plan for Scotland

The HTA is launching a specific strategy for Scotland - aimed at garden retailers, landscapers, growers, manufacturers and suppliers - at a regional business briefing in Glasgow.

HTA business development director Tim Briercliffe said the organisation was working with the Scottish Government to address urban planting, non-native invasive species and plant health problems. "There are certain areas such as policy, plant health, planning and grant aid where a more dedicated strategy is required reflecting governmental activities," he added.

Stan Green, HTA board member and managing director at Dunfermline-based Growforth, said: "A lot of the areas that the HTA is involved with are the responsibility of the devolved government in Holyrood.

"The HTA knows that things are different here and we have actively worked to address some of these issues. It's about recognising that it's a different place and a different government up here that requires a different outlook."

- The briefing will take place at Craigmarloch Nurseries on 15 February. Email events@the-hta.org.uk.
