HTA Scotland and Ireland regional business manager Neil Cummings has organised the reception, which is designed to attract more funding long-term into horticulture. (See more in HW 15 May.)
Cummings said the Scottish horticulture industry has had an "interesting" start to the year, with a strong start and favourable weather at Easter, which nevertheless came slightly early for the Scottish market.
He said most growers and retailers were "pretty buoyant" but the latest May bank holiday had "put things into perspective" because of the weather. "Weekend sales weren't what were hoped for," he added.
