The 2015 calendar year to the end of July is also nine per cent up on 2014.
Additionally, year to date garden retail sales show houseplants and clothing are the best performers in 2015 so far, closely followed by furniture and BBQs, catering and outdoor plants, according to Garden Centre Association figures.
Seeds and bulbs are the only negative category, down 0.25 per cent this year.
Figures for the end of July indicate sales rise in almost all areas compared to 2014. This included rises in all areas but furniture and BBQs (-1.4 per cent) and hard landscaping (-2.19 per cent) in July.
The GCA found that July was up in most areas.
