Matthew Everett was a graduate from the University of East Anglia and applied through the university’s graduate employability programme.
He said: "I’m looking forward to this opportunity. It will be a great introduction to marketing for a business this size and I have already learnt so much already."
Howard Nurseries have funded the internship through a grant with the New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership and the New Anglia Growth Hub which is enough funding for an internship lasting nine months.
Everett has already been hard at work running the nurseries Twitter feed during the RHS Chelsea Flower Show (where Howard Nurseries in collaboration with Sarah Cook won a gold medal) and updating the company’s website with all the latest news from the nursery.
The biggest change he has made so far is adding photos to the company’s availability list so they can see how certain plants are looking before they buy them. He said: "We want to show garden centres the exact quality of product they will get when they buy from us and what they will be selling on to their customers. Howard Nurseries takes great pride in the high quality of the plants they sell and it’s a great opportunity to showcase that."
