Staged at the Ivy Bush Royal Hotel, Carmarthen on Wednesday 6 May, the event by supply chain efficiency project Horticulture Wales is specifically targeted at edible and ornamental growers who sell – or who would like to sell – to wholesalers, retailers, the public sector, landscape contractors, hotels, and similar trade organisations.
The session will be headed up by Russell Ferguson of RFM, a chartered marketer with more than 30 years of industry experience. He has tailored the content specifically for growers and how to interact with buyers they deal with at their nursery or farm, or at events such as tradeshows or plant fairs.
Topics covered will include getting inside the mind of the buyer, how best to deal with tricky questions, presenting products or services in the most effective way, negotiating, up-selling, and closing the deal. It will also offer tips on body language and assertiveness, as well as advice on how to create eye-catching displays at tradeshows and similar events.
In June, Horticulture Wales will also be staging three separate ‘Meet the Buyer’ events open to all Welsh growers, where they’ll get to put their products to a range of councils, wholesalers, retailers, hospitality businesses, and public sector bodies.
Horticulture Wales project development officer Karen Rodenburg said: "You never get a second chance to make a first impression, and this free workshop will provide growers with practical ideas and tips to ensure they interact with buyers in a more effective and business-focused way. Places are limited, so we’d encourage anyone interested in attending to reserve a place as soon as possible."
