Where can we get hold of de-icing salt?

A: Type "de-icing salt" into a search engine and you will find lots of suppliers. Two well-known brands used in the grounds maintenance industry are Peacock Salt of Ayrshire and Grit & Salt Supply of Worcestershire.

Both companies provide a range of winter products, including the equipment for storage and application.

It is also worth noting that, although perhaps better known for the supply of turf, Yorkshire-based Rolawn offers Hallstone De-icing Salt. The product is available in bulk bags (600 litres) and small bags (20kg). Screened to 6mm and containing an anti-caking agent, it is a low-moisture rock salt for paths, roads and car parks.

With memories of the severe winter of 2010 still fresh in the mind and with another bad winter forecast by many, the pressure is already on suppliers to deliver grit and salt. I suggest that you get your order in as soon as possible.
