Poor storage, the wrong quantities of products, insufficient agitation, water quality and the wrong mixing sequence can all cause problems, Adlam told visitor at the HDC supported session.
Problems encountered filling sprayers include products settling out in the tank or creating sticky residue, blockages and foaming.
"Around one per cent of sales goes on crop protection," he said. "It's worth considering whether we are getting the most out of our sprayers. We look at how much we spend on labour and chemicals and say we need to cut costs, but it's about how to get the best value."
