Groundsmen win awards for 124 years of hard work

Three grounds staff who have clocked up 124 years of service for one company between them have won long-service awards.

Peter Smith joined ISS Facility Services Landscaping 43 years ago, Peter Lovell 41 years ago and Alfred Agombar has been with the upkeep contractor for 40 years.

All three men work at Southend on Sea under parks manager officer Ian Brown and managing director Phil Jones.

Jones said: "To have three employees of ISS who have reached such significant milestones is outstanding. Each one has given many years' service to enhancing parks and open spaces. As well as being recognised with long-service awards, their contribution is very evident in Southend. Residents and visitors have enjoyed the fruits of their labours for many years."

Mayor of Southend on Sea Ann Holland awarded the gongs at a recent ceremony in the Essex town.
