The machine starts quickly. It’s recoil but only takes a couple of pulls and then the tester is steering the unit into the thick vegetation along the side of a rough trackway.
“It’s a bit of a shock,” he confesses. “It’s quite a powerful machine but the nice thing is that it is self-propelled. You just have to walk behind it. It’s easy to operate and easy to manoeuvre.”
Nylon cutting cords have also improved over the past few years. The tester is impressed with the toughness and cutting power of the diamond cord used in this machine. And changing cords is hassle-free; simply pull the old bit out and thread in the new.
Despite its initial appearance, the HWT600WD is a well-built and robust machine. Grillo targets it at those needing a machine for the heavy-duty clearance of grass, nettles and rough paddock areas. It will certainly do that. Our tester also considers the unit might be used for weeding within plantations.
