Greenkeepers training body launches quality assured scheme

The Greenkeepers Training Committee (GTC) is calling on its network of training providers to join a new GTC Quality Assured Scheme.

Following the new agreement with City & Guilds Land Based Services to offer jointly branded Work Based Diplomas (WBDs) from September 1 2010, the GTC is compiling a database of training centres which meet the criteria for these new WBDs.

They hope to form a similar partnership with the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA), where Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) remain within the popular Apprenticeship Scheme.

GTC’s education director David Golding said the GTC is determined to direct employers and greenkeepers to approved training providers who have met the GTC Quality Assured criteria.

GTC Quality Assured centres will offer formal qualifications while a number of GTC Quality Assured Training Providers will offer training courses which will coordinate with the National Occupational Standards (NOS).
