Garden Writers' Guild rebrands

The Garden Writers' Guild has changed its name to the Garden Media Guild (GMG) to recognise the increasing amount of web writing in the sector.

Chairman Valerie McBride-Munro said: "In the 15 years we have existed communication has stretched to not just print but also web-writing and web-editing. We're creating a space that will encourage everyone in garden communicating."

On the future of the GMG's administration, members voted in a straw poll (HW, 22 November) on options available if the Institute of Horticulture decides to merge with the Society of Chemical Industry (SCI). They decided to explore continuing existing arrangements for administration by the SCI as a practical way forward for the short term, allowing further consideration to be given to the matter in the future.

Any motion put formally to an AGM would require advance publication to all members, so that they are able to respond by proxy.
