Garden site gains funding

A £950,000 Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) grant will alleviate flooding in Winckley Square Garden in Preston and pay for new tree and shrub planting. A statue of former prime minister Sir Robert Peel will also be restored in the Georgian garden. The grant forms part of a wider £34m HLF programme.
