Garden Re-Leaf kicks off

Garden Re-Leaf Day on 18 March is starting early with 24-hour garden centre plantathons leading into the event as big Greenfingers money-raisers this year.

A 20 mile walk from the HTA’s offices in Theale, West Berkshire is on 18 March.

Glee director Matthew Mein, GIMA Director Vicky Nuttall and several HTA and GCA staff are among those taking part. or

Poplars, Adrian Hall, Old Railway Line and Sunshine garden centres (with a quiz and curry night) have all recently confirmed they will put on Garden Re-Leaf events in store. 

Simpsons in Inverness is raising cash by selling primroses via coupons in local papers including the Inverness Courier and donating the £1.75 price to the cause.

Pugh’s Garden Village is doing a Get On Your Bike exercise bike 60 mile ride The Watering Can Coffee Shop getting involved; they will be donating 50p per hot drink sold all day.

A 24 hour plantathon, as reported in HW yesterday, features Andy Bunker (Alton Garden Centre),Bob Hewitt (Klondyke), Alan Roper (Blue Diamond Group), Dennis Espley (Squire's) and Greenfingers trustee Boyd Douglas-Davies (Hillview).

Perrywood and Ayletts are holding a quiz, Paradise Park is selling lucky squares, cupcakes, collecting change and quizzing, Orchard Park is holding an egg hunt, Carr Farm has a face painting and pottery painting.
