Garden Re-Leaf founder in 24-hour plant-athon

Fundraiser and season starter Garden Re-Leaf will be at garden centres on March 17 and founder and Hillview Group chief executive officer Boyd Douglas Davies will be planting for 24 hours.

He said: "It’s Garden Re-Leaf Day this week and I’ve set myself a new challenge. A 24 hour Plant-Athon and it starts on Thursday at 4pm. So I need your help right now as I want to hit my target of £1,440 before I start.

"I want to raise £1 for every minute of the 24 hours so if you can sponsor me that will be brilliant. Can you sponsor me for 15, 30 or maybe a full 60 minutes? Whatever you can afford will be great as every pound will be going to the Greenfingers Charity – a brilliant charity dedicated to supporting the children who use hospices around the UK, along with their families, by creating inspiring gardens for them to relax in and enjoy."

Andy Bunker (Alton Garden Centre), Bob Hewitt (Klondyke), Alan Roper (Blue Diamond Group) and Greenfingers trustee Douglas-Davies (Hillview) will be using their own centres to showcase their fundraising efforts. Andy McIndoe and the president of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture, Andrew Gill, will be joining Dennis Espley at Squire’s – who will start and finishing their Plant-athons at the slightly earlier time of 2pm. Will Armitage has also pledged to take part in the 24hr Plant-athon at a garden centre in the North of England.
