Garden industry campaign goes online for more impact

Love Your Plot campaign for 2017 will focus less on a physical presence at roadshows and more on presence online.

The campaign's managers are creating new gifs – popular on social media but only used for cooking/recipes to date – to bring gardening to the (younger) non-gardening masses.

"This concept is revolutionary for the horticulture industry and we will exploit the very popular social media following we built last year to engage non-gardeners and get them into garden centres," the campaign's organisers said.

Love The Plot You've Got  will also be "introducing partnership opportunities this year, giving precedence to those who partner with us for media coverage.

"We have our first partner already, and will be launching a brand new website that will be mobile optimised for the consumer .  This is aimed at the non-gardener standing on their patio typing questions such as "how to grow potatoes" and "how to create a vertical garden" into their phone rather than long range planning like an seasoned gardener.

"It will be image heavy and focus on products that are ideal for patios, balconies and roof terraces, with the relevant content being partner-driven."

Gif videos lasting about 38 seconds already available are: How to buy a barbecue, How to plant a vertical garden, How to pot a plant, How to plant potatoes and Mother’s Day (26 March).
