Britain's biggest garden centre Longacres is opening at 7.30am on Good Friday and Easter Monday and 8.30am on Easter Saturday. It is offering a 10 per cent off voucher to bank holiday 'early birds'.
Groves Nurseries in Dorset is opening at 8am on Saturday 26 March, as retail nurseries and garden centres try and make the most of the holiday.
Closure on Easter Sunday costs garden centres £70m a year, say the HTA, which has vowed to fight on after another failed attempt to extend Sunday trading bombed out of Parliament this month.
The HTA says garden centres deserve exemption because they sell live goods.
Meanwhile, the Met Office has issued a yellow warning of wind for much of England and Wales for 26 March.
It said: "A swathe of strong winds, accompanied by heavy rain at times, will move east across the country on Saturday. This is expected to bring gusts of 45-55 mph, perhaps 60 mph later. Coastal areas exposed to the southwest are likely to see more frequent gusts of 55-65 mph."
Good Friday will have sunny spells, Saturday will be wet and windy, Sunday will have sunshine and showers and Monday will be windier and rainier.
