With a lack of young planteria managers and buyers, Carter said he wants to source plants for retailers at 70 per cent cheaper than employing a specialist.
He can get group buying rates from his 50 preferred suppliers, Carter explained. In six weeks he has signed up five garden centres, a warehouse retailer and a convenience store. "I can do all their buying on almost a weekend salary," he added.
He charges £12,000 for supplying a £1m-turnover planteria, checking electronic point of sale and only working with retailers 45-minutes apart to avoid stock duplication.
"We can save you time and money while increasing your profit margin in the plant category through our specialism in buying and category insight," said Carter. "As an independent plant-buying specialist, I have a proven track record in driving cash margin and increased footfall to plant categories."
He added: "My experience in plant-buying management covers an array of different formats - from large independents and large chains to discounters and major multiples. I understand what works across individual business models.
"Through Carter Buying, I am able to work on behalf of and directly with our business owners. My service will be available to all independent stores through to large chains at an extremely competitive rate."
Carter said his business came about due to several customers contacting him due to the limited supply of plant managers/buyers in the marketplace. "I felt this could be the perfect opportunity to help breathe more life back into this amazing industry," he explained.
