Garden centre company secretary admits theft

A garden centre company secretary has admitted the teft of almost £166,000.

Lynda Whalley, 66, took the money by falsifying accounts at ACW Garden Centre in Bradford, and sister company, Woodside Nurseries and Garden Centre in Harden, between September 2006 and October 2015.

She pleaded guilty to a charge of theft at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court on 22 March.

Magistrates were told that Whalley, of Grasleigh Avenue, Allerton, Bradford, was charged with stealing £165,994 from her former employer.

Judge Clews granted her unconditional bail ahead of a hearing at Bradford Crown Court on April 12.
