Funds for young designer contest

Garden design show and landscaping franchise offer £12,500 in a competition to find the UK’s young garden designer of the year.

A garden design show organiser and a landscaping franchiser are offering £12,500 in a competition to find the UK’s young garden designer of the year. Urban Gardens 2005 and Scenic Blue will give a £2,500 prize and £10,000 for the building of a garden. Judges include celebrity Diarmuid Gavin, BALI chairman Neil Huck and the deputy chairman of the Society of Garden Designers, Andrew Fisher. Urban Gardens director Daniel Holmes said: “With thousands of students now studying garden design we felt it was time a competition existed that gave new talent the opportunity to be recognised by the entire industry.” The competition is open to 18- to 30-year-olds. The closing date is 4 February 2005. Those wanting more details should visit www.urban-gardens. com or call 020 7288 6070
