Four parks share funding of £8m

Four parks are set for a transformation after sharing in grants totalling £8m from the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund's Parks for People initiative.

Brockwell Park, in south London, and Whitstable Castle Park, in Kent, will split the cash with Castle Park and Hale Park, both in Cheshire.

Brockwell Park received £3.5m to restore historic landscaping and buildings, upgrading footpaths, entrances, furniture and signage.

Whitstable Castle Park will get £2m to allow the Rose Garden and Lower Terrace to be remodelled.

The 5ha Hale Park has received a grant of £643,000 to provide a community space for local people and visitors to the village.

Castle Park, in Frodsham, was designed by Edward Kemp and a £1.84m grant will restore the landscape back to his original design.
