Lumena Lights raised the alarm on Twitter (via the Four Oaks Twitter feed @fouroaksts) tweeting:
WARNING: "Expo Guide" imply that they're a part of @FourOaksTS, Pat has confirmed this is a SCAM. If you receive an email please ignore!— Lumena Lights Ltd (@LumenaLightsLtd) June 24, 2014
The organisation offers exhibitors at trade shows around the world a listing on its online directory before invoicing them for fees of more than 1,000 euros, details of which are hidden in the small print of the paperwork.
Lumena Lights' sales and office manager, David Packer explained:
"We received a paper invoice with a forged signature on an application form attached, the name of a general manager who was not employed by us at the date of the application form and the signature that was forged was of an employee who was on maternity leave.
"We also received a follow-up invoice and more recently a third reminder with a letter threatening to take us to court if we do not pay."
Pat Coutts confirmed once more that the company has no connection with Four Oaks Trade Show in the UK and in a message to exhibitors said:
"Do not pay. Do not reply to them. They have nothing to do with us. Just ignore anything they send to you".
