Four Oaks award winners announced

Fitzgerald Nurseries’ Carex trifida ‘Rekohu Sunrise’ has “an excellent retail future,” said the judges of this year’s Four Oaks Awards, sponsored by Horticulture Week, as they awarded the grower this year’s award for nursery stock.

The award for best bedding and pot plant went to Young Plants Ltd’s Begonia ‘Blue Skies’, des-cribed as “tighter and more compact than others on the market.” A solution to rabbit and deer damage called Grazers won the professional equipment award, and for technical excellence, the Hortec trimming machine was chosen. Most innovative exhibit went to Ball Colegrave and best overseas exhibit to Chiti Piante from Pistoia, Italy. The award for professional products and services went to Greenfield Software for its Oki C8800 colour printer while Humax Horticulture got the best retail product for its organic fruit and vegetable grow bags. Humax also picked up the overall award.
