Former ISA president and international arboricultural figure Colin Bashford dies

Colin Bashford MBE, founder of the CBA Trees consultancy and former president of the International Society of Arboriculture, has died aged 75.

Having gained a wide range of experience in private, municipal and governmental work, where he advised up to ministerial level, he was awarded an MBE in 1990 for services to and work with trees.

He founded his own practice in 1993, where he worked full-time as a consultant until 2010, remaining in an advisory role thereafter.

In 2011 he took up the two-year tenure as ISA world president, the first non-North American to hold the post, having previously served as its UK & Ireland Chapter board director and international vice president and executive committee member.

He also served in a range of roles with the Arboricultural Association, the British Standards Institute, and as chair of governors at Merrist Wood College in Surrey. He gave lectures internationally and was an AA Registered Consultant, a Law Society approved Expert Witness and a member of The Academy of Experts.

His funeral will be held in Southampton on Monday 14 March.
