Former garden centre auctioned for £2.5m.

The site of Woolmans Garden Centre in Shirley in the West Midlands has sold for £2.5m to Churchill Retirement Living, who develop retirement apartment schemes.

The 0.7ha former plant centre was sold as one of the lots at a Cottons auction at Aston Villa FC on December 3.

The garden centre closed when the owner Mark Tredwell retired earlier in 2015.

Woolmans is a brand now owned by Mr Fothergill's that sells chrysanthemums online.
