Recently, several illegal Gerbera plantations where detected in the Mexican province Estado de México, which led to legal steps by Florist Holland. On March 2, these actions resulted in the confiscation and destruction of a complete Gerbera plantation, with plants that were reproduced illegally.
Florist Holland said it "strives to maintain genetic quality and to protect the honest grower and the integrity of the entire industry. Supporting the international floriculture supply chain and trade, Florist Holland registers products under their correct names (PBR). These actions reaffirm Florist Holland’s commitment to customers and dealers, helping them to maintain a healthy market without unfair competition through illegal propagation of their genetics. Florist Holland will continue their controls and urges all producers to work within the legal framework and to report any illegal reproduction of Gerberas by approaching Florist Holland or one of their worldwide agents."
