Fleuroselect to hold European seed event in Surrey

Fleuroselect, an international organisation for the ornamental plants industry, is to hold its 4th Home Garden Conference next month in the UK.
The conference strives to inspire the pictorial seed packet industry with expert speakers and visits to locations of high horticultural value. Last year's conference was held in conjunction with the Dutch Floriade and attracted 76 participants from 15 countries.
The conference is on 25-26 September and will visit Royal Horticultural Society Wisley and Tozer Seeds vegetable trials.
Keynote speaker is HTA president Carol Paris, who is retail director of Garden & Leisure. She will discuss the role of a national trade association in assisting the promotion of the sector.
RHS Wisley curator Colin Crosbie and Chris Young, editor of RHS magazine "The Garden" will tell delegates how the organisation influences the gardening public.
Diane Blazek of All-America Selections and the National Garden Bureau will talk about how the organisations use awards and initiatives such as Plant of the Year to stimulate gardening.
Boyd Douglas-Davies of Hillview Group of Garden Centres will suggest how industry sectors can work together to stimulate the consumer.
Jane Mosely, director of the British Beekeepers Association, will also speak.
There will also be a panel discussion on ideas for a European-wide plant of the year award.
