Extra rangers for Reigate and Banstead

Two new countryside ranger posts are to be created at Reigate and Banstead Borough Council to help improve parks.

The council executive has already agreed to create two new countryside ranger posts.

The proposed posts will now go before Full Council to seek final approval on Thursday 4 December.

The Reigate and Banstead countryside rangers will carry out tree and shrub maintenance, and provide emergency cover to deal with fallen trees.

They would also have authority to issue fixed penalty notices for littering, dog fouling and other similar offences.

The rangers will aim to foster better relationships with local conservation groups and encourage more voluntary work.
