Ex Mary Portas director joins Haskins garden centres

Haskins Garden Centre has appointed its first director of marketing. Lisa Looker is a former director at Mary Portas's communications agency Yellowdoor, and has been head of marketing at art and craft retailer HobbyCraft since 2009.

Haskins chief executive Julian Winfield said Looker will maximise the promotion of the business, which turns over £31m at its four centres in Ferndown, West End, Southampton, Roundstone near Worthing and Snow Hill near East Grinstead.

Looker said despite the recent challenges created by both the economy and the weather,  the business has the ability to increase sales and market share: "The continuous reinvestment into the facilities to ensure the status of destination centres is genuine, and the growing trend towards gardening and an outdoor living lifestyle will ensure that we can capture a wider interest and appeal."
