Soil health and farm viability – how understanding and monitoring your soil health can improve plant performance and bring business benefits
Improving the health of soils is fundamental to the agronomic and financial sustainability of horticultural enterprise. This free workshop will look at; the role of soil organisms in providing plant nutrients, effective methods for testing for soil health, and the potential for financial benefits. The event will include a tour of the Laverstoke labs and a field walk.
The event will be led by Tim Bevan, Farm Business Advisor at the Soil Association. We will be joined by a guest speaker on soil biology.
The workshops are aimed at growers, but may also be useful for farmers and advisors. We expect that growers will already have a basic understanding of the link between soil health and plant health and will be looking to understand more about this and how soil testing can be used to strengthen their growing system.
Workshops are open to all, however, in the event of high demand preference will be given to commercial growers.
