English Landscapes buys out Banyards

Multi-million pound firm English Landscapes has bought Dorset-based Banyards, extending its reach in the south-west.

English Landscapes, which has an annual turnover of £300 million and employs around 400 staff, acquired Banyards for an undisclosed sum.

Banyards, which covers landscaping, grounds maintenance, interior plantscapes and tree work from its seven depots, is to keep its own name.

The buyout coincides with the handover of Banyards from former managing director Paul Edwards, who has now retired, to former area manager Jim Edwards.

Jim Edwards said the English Landscapes takeover was a fantastic opportunity for Banyards, which employs around 85 staff and has a £3 million turnover.

“Before English Landscapes purchased us they did a lot of research on Banyards as a company name and found the brand is very strong, so we’ll continue to run as Banyards,” added Jim Edwards.
