Energy saving event for growers to include update on latest LED developments

GrowSave is putting on a new event to give growers of both edible and ornamental glasshouse-grown crops the chance to catch up on some of the latest energy-saving research.

The specialist energy advisory body for growers is holding it's meeting on November 6 at Stockbridge Technology Centre in Selby, Yorkshire.

The morning's agenda, will see the team from the Yorkshire-based horticultural research faciltiy update growers on its work on the application of LED's on protected crops.

STC is working with organisations such as Philips Horticulture LED Solutions and the British Tomato Growers Association to trial the effects of different LED lights on long-season crops such as tomatoes.

The afternoon session will include presentations from a consortium of researchers working on the Green Growing project which is looking into light management, humidity control and energy saving methods for glasshouse production.
