In its electric format, it uses an alternating-current motor to generate more power and give a longer operating window between battery charges. It also has a failsafe dual-braking system with electric and mechanical brakes to ensure brakes operate even if the power is lost.
Electronic speed control engages brakes on steep slopes and the parking brake automatically locks when the RXV is stopped. This system recharges the batteries whenever brakes are applied and reportedly enhances efficiency by up to 30 per cent.
A petrol version with a 13hp Kawasaki engine is available. The low RPM is intended to deliver better fuel economy with less noise.
