Developer UrbanFarmers says the 1,200m2 installation will produce 50 tonnes of vegetables a year from September, while the 370m2 indoor fish farm will yield 20 tonnes of fresh fish.

Customers can pre-order weekly baskets through the newly launched website urbanfarmers.nl. Produce will also be supplied to local caterers.

The site, on the sixth floor of a prominent former factory building, will also host tours and events, as part of UrbanFarmers' stated intention to make it "open and transparent to its customers and the public".
