Andrew Ingram, from Christmas Tree Common in Oxfordshire, has presented a 20ft Lasiocarpa fir to 10 Downing Street. It is the third time he has scooped the top prize. The tree is several feet higher than last yar's, reflecting a trend for bigger trees.
Hans Alexanderson, from Santa Fir Christmas Tree Farm in Guildford claimed a double win and was judged to have the Champion Wreath as well as the runner up position in the Champion Tree category, with a 12ft Nordmann.
The wreath will hang at the door throughout Christmas, and Alexanderson’s selection of tree will stand within the Pillared Room.
The contest to present to the Prime Minister is now in its 17th year and is managed by the British Christmas Tree Growers Association.
Hans and Julie Alexandersen have in excess of 750,000 trees over seven sites. Andrew Ingram is responsible for 120,000 trees on a 120 acre site.
