Designer Lucy Hunter talks up high-end jobs in North West

The North West remains a hot spot for high-end garden design, according to designer Lucy Hunter.

She is working on a multi-million pound project near Knutsford. Her client is a businessman who bought a 10ha potato field at the back of his house. Hunter, with contractors Dutton and Peters and MJ Abbott, are transforming it into a garden with lakes and a country park feel, a formal Italianate-type garden, a woodland garden, an orchard, a walled garden, glasshouse, lawns and a small river complete with weir as part of the irrigation system.

She said: "There's lots of money in the North West. In that area of Knutsford it's as wealthy as Belgravia. The market is dominated by footballers and I feel very lucky I'm working with people who like to spend these amounts."
