Ratcliffe said: "After many successful years of trading, we have decided to focus predominantly on our retail business. We will continue to serve a very small number of wholesales customers alongside and will fulfil existing young plant orders until December.
He added: "I have known Wayne and the Delamore business for many years and have respected the way they have carried on business and I believe they provide the best service that suits our customer’s needs. We are very grateful for our customer’s loyalty over the years"
Delamore managing director Wayne Eady said: "We are extremely pleased to have purchased the Botany Bay Young Plants business. I have known Jamie for a long time and believe his principals and the way he has looked after customers are very much aligned to our own. We will be working hard through our sales team to make the transition as smooth as possible for Botany Bay customers and demonstrating the benefits of working with us.
Eady said the purchase fits perfectly with his objective of growing the business through additional sales and utilising the Wisbech facility and assets to their utmost potential.
He added: "It is important to us that the staff we have and those now entering the business under our apprenticeship schemes are fully engaged and this kind of transaction help massively in their motivation. We remain interested in other businesses that are aligned to our own and where we can add further value both locally and as one of the international Volmary family businesses. Our intentions are very much focused on serving the needs of our existing and new customers and through our Volmary family can now provide the most comprehensive and innovative product range available."
