Walkers Bulbs, part of Taylors Bulbs, has 5,000 blooms in cold store for the match, which falls well after when daffodils usually flower.
Johnny Walkers says the event florist, wanting the use the Welsh national flower as the final is being held for the first time in Cardiff, rang him a few weeks ago knowing he was the only person in the country who could supply daffodils so late in such numbers. He agreed as the match is a week after the Chelsea Flower Show, where Walkers exhibits as an end of season event, but a heatwave has made cutting the daffodils especially challenging.
He said: "They're in cold store. The flowers were picked last week, because they wouldn't last in 20+ degrees heat. They're a spring plant not a tropical one and it can get to 35 degrees in the glasshouse, even with screens."
Walkers added that spring weather "has been kind" to gardeners and garden centre trade in spring bulbs has been "positive".
