The total area of horticultural crops saw an increase of 6.4 per cent between 2014 and 2015 and now stands at 174,000 hectares, the highest since 2011.
Nursery stock accounts for seven per cent of total area and glasshouses are one per cent.
Total hardy nursery stock, bulbs and flowers area was 13,000ha, up eight per cent.
Hardy nursery stock was 5,800ha, up 0.6 per cent and bulbs and flowers grown in the open was 6,800ha, up 15.8 per cent.
Protected ornamental glasshouse area was 526ha, down 7.3 per cent.
