Cotton Traders to open 40 more shops in garden centres

Cotton Traders is to open 40 shops in garden centres nationwide over the next three years to take the number of Cotton Traders outlets to 140.

First Franchise has been putting leisurewear company Cotton Traders into garden centres since the year 2000.

MD Fran Cotton said: "Garden centres have almost become mini-shopping centres in their own right and have a good footfall of consumers who are our kind of customers in terms of profile."

Cotton Traders saw sales between October and mid-December increase by more than 20 per cent.

The company is on course for sales of £73m for the 12 months to the end of January, up from £64m, with underlying pre-tax profits expected to reach a record level of around £6.3m, up from £5.3m.

Cotton Traders’ shops generate £26m of sales, with about £5m from independent retailers and the rest coming from online.
