Kent-based Coolings garden centre chairman Paul Cooling said:
"In the blizzard on Tuesday night I thought I’d park our vintage Morris pick-up under the cover of an old polytunnel.
"I was annoyed that there was stuff in the way and had to leave the back end sticking out. Who says there’s no such thing as fate!"
Meanwhile in Nottinghamshire, Windmill View Plant Centre owner June Taylor-Rabjohn saw snow bring her uninsured £12,000 30ft x 70ft polytunnel to the ground.
Other casualties of the cold snap include East Yorkshire-based Grand Dale Garden Centre where all its glasshouses collapsed leaving damages worth an estimated £100,000.
