Contenders line up for Landscape Institute Awards

The shortlist for the Landscape Institute Awards was revealed this week, with a total of 38 entrants competing in 14 categories.

This year's submissions included Groundwork London's King George's Field Playscape in Hanwell, which won a Horticulture Week Landscape & Amenity Award last week, green infrastructure plans for Liverpool and Manchester city regions and a flood mediation scheme for the Thames Estuary.

Institute president Neil Williamson said: "This year, despite the recession, we are delighted to present such an excellent range of imaginative, constructive and above all sustainable approaches to every aspect of landscape management, design and research. We are also particularly delighted that this year we have received a much greater than usual selection of submissions from students."

The awards will be presented by environmentalist Sir Jonathon Porritt at a ceremony on 19 November.
