Under the supervision of the college's research coordinator and senior lecturer in horticulture Russ Sharp, the PhD will investigate the use of green manures to control disease and promote growth of nursery-produced trees and shrubs.
"We are actively seeking research partnerships with other organisations, while at the same time harnessing our links with growers to ensure that the research is always relevant to their needs and current challenges," said Sharp.
"We would very much welcome applications from individuals who have industrial experience plus academic qualifications to apply for this post.
"The ability to lecture at the same time as conducting PhD research is a rare opportunity and because the project is investigating the growth of trees it lends itself to study on a part-time basis."
