College names new head of horticulture

Warwickshire College has appointed Tony Davies as head of horticulture, which includes him taking responsibility for Pershore College.

The former head of horticulture at Hampshire's Sparsholt College will also be in charge of horticultural activities at Warwickshire College's Moreton Morrell Centre, and the out-centre at Kings Heath Park in Birmingham.

He replaces Dave Feaver who is retiring after 33 years service at Pershore College.

Davies worked in commercial horticulture before moving to education. He is a moderator and examiner for the National Proficiency Tests Council and an RHS adviser.

Davies said: "It is my intention to strengthen Pershore's and Moreton Morrell's international reputation for horticulture and to ensure they are the first choice of learners as the Centre of Vocational Excellence for Horticulture in the UK."
