Coles Nurseries lifts lid on tree production for landscape professionals

Landscape architects, landscapers and grounds maintenance teams got a behind-the-scenes look at tree and shrub production during a tour around James Coles Nurseries.

The Unearthed event, held at Leicestershire-based Coles Nurseries Syston site, was a chance for landscape professionals to learn more about specifying trees and shrubs.
Tree production manager Clinton Barratt showed attendees around the site and explained methods such as budding new trees, as well as demonstrating lifting trees ready for delivery to clients.
He added this year's weather had been an added pressure on production.
"This year has been particularly difficult because it has been a mix of wet, warm and sunny so it has been hard to keep on top of weeds," said Clinton Barratt, at the event on 11 September.
Coles Nurseries' managing director James Coles said the event had been a huge success.
"We want to achieve a better exchange of working practices between all the elements of plant supply," he said.
