Charterhouse Turf Machinery staff triumph in European rally

Staff from sports turf machinery specialists Charterhouse Turf Machinery, recently won this years Crumball Rally in Europe.

Charterhouse staff Richard Heywood and Curtis Allen, alongside friends Steven McGill and Darren Ayling, drove their own version of the Dukes of Hazard’s ‘General Lee’ to victory from Boulogne to Monte Carlo, finishing off in Nice.

The ‘Dukes of Scotland’ team raised £4500 for The Scottish Society of Autism, and the money will be used at the Clippens School in Paisely for children and teenagers with special educational needs.

Charterhouse’s Curtis Allen said: "The Rally was a success on every level, we made it which was the crucial thing.

"The ‘General’ got us home safely and we raised a few pounds and smiles along the way – we also sampled every beer in every country and paid the price the next morning."
