According to RHS chief assessor Andrew Wilson, the gloom of the recession is lifting and that will be reflected at Chelsea 2010.

"Last year there were all the black clouds on the horizon and people were worried," he explained.

"This year there is a more confident feeling. There will be some interesting structures at Chelsea and the architecture of the gardens will be quite exciting.

"However, there will also be a nice emphasis on planting, particularly in Andy Sturgeon's garden and Roger Platts' garden."

He added that he was interested to see Mark Gregory's garden for The Children's Society, along with the Naturally Norway garden and Isgihara Kazuyuki Design Laboratory's creation.
